Reviews Overview

Most Liked

The food consistently earns rave reviews. Diners can’t stop talking about the chicken tikka shashlik, known for its perfectly marinated and grilled flavors. The onion bhaji is another standout, often regarded as the best in the area, thanks to its crispy texture and rich taste. Karen, the bartender, receives high praise for her attentive service and knowledge of the menu, enhancing the dining experience. The casual atmosphere makes it a perfect spot for dinner, whether dining solo or with friends. Prices are deemed reasonable, especially given the quality of food and generous portions offered. Customers particularly appreciate the availability of takeaway and delivery options, allowing them to enjoy their favorite dishes at home.

Most Disliked

Some diners express disappointment in the limited dining ambiance during quieter times. A few reviews mention that when the restaurant is empty, the atmosphere can feel somewhat lacking. While the food usually receives high marks, there are occasional calls for more variety in vegetarian options on the menu. A handful of customers also note that service can slow down during particularly busy hours, which may impact their overall dining experience. Despite its wheelchair accessibility, a few patrons have commented on space constraints when maneuvering in larger groups. However, these critiques are often overshadowed by the overwhelmingly positive feedback received.

We would like to think that we are curry connoisseurs 😜. Been to a lot of different restaurants. We moored up near the harecastle tunnel and decided to pop into kidsgrove for a curry. We were recommended Arena by a customer that was standing outside. We took a chance and it was a good decision. Karen was brilliant and the food was fantastic. The lamb was so tender, fresh cauliflower in the bhaji and the channawalla was so tasty. Would thoroughly recommend. Unfortunately we were early and the restaurant was empty so I can’t give a great review on the atmosphere.

Brilliant excellent food service and friendly, very welcoming. Nice clean restaurant with a bar, eat in or takeaway, give it a try, its been there a long time & we've just been & everything was cooked to perfection, fantastic flavours & cobra lager. The prices are very reasonable. If you like onion bhaji you've got to try it, best we've ever had.

We both enjoyed the food. It was excellent. The service was really great and the waiter took great care to make sure that all of the dishes we received were suitable for my wife as I had told him that she is allergic to dairy products. The chappati was wonderful. Overall, it was a great meal in a really good restaurant.

Always use arena for a Indian take away as they deliver, food is normally good. But every time you sit in for a meal you are guaranteed top class curry. Great choice on the menu but I always stick to garlic chilli chicken for the main as it is consistently good.

The best bar none! I have been going here since it opened in 2000 Never had a bad curry, the staff are amazing, friendly and very reasonably priced. The best traditional curry house around and a hidden gem. Try it... you won't be disappointed !
